BEYOND COMPARTMENTS IN HUMAN DEVELOPMENT

In an era of integration, adaptation and transformation here we have one of the world’s leading consultancies mismanaging their own staff. What hope is there for their clients?

As we’ve spent the past 15 years tearing down labels related to gender, race and sexuality, Deloitte seem hell bent on erecting new ones. In a recent article that is a trojan horse disguised as a help in Covid times for staff not working in offices, (the world of wellbeing) the real purpose of the article is to increase productivity at any cost.

Labelling people is compartmentalising individuals and at best diminishing.

The four ridiculous labels “pioneer, guardian, integrator, and driver” have vague similaraities to those of Myer Briggs, another devious and proven failure in human development. Read the Deloitte Article here and draw your own conclusions ….

Here’s My and therefore Human Nature’s counterargument to this compartmentalising and labelling discriminations.

  1. Every human has every trait. And therefore everyone has all four of those qualities ready and waiting to be used. If an organisation is so naive as to suggest they should harvest just the most “egocentric” aspect of a person’s disposition, they are really underestimating the value of the asset a person brings to work.
  2. There’s two sides to everything and everyone. If an organisation plays to the incompetence of a human development program that focusses on one developed aspect of a person, they leave the opposite to that quality to be expressed elsewhere. Are Deloitte taking responsibility for the counterexpression that their labels will cause in a person’s private life or do they simply not care?
  3. People become as we treat them. These labels that identify aspects of an individual’s character are not healthy in a total human awareness view of an individual. One label can never describe all the qualities that need and must be expressed throughout a day in the life of a normal human being. Compartmentalising an individual by labelling them with “boxes” that make it easier for teams to collaborate is the foundation construct of corrupt business practice that abuses the individual – gaining productivity at any cost.

Deloitte, it’s time to evolve out of the dark ages of the industrial era and treat your organisation as total human beings rather than, pigeon hole them in places that are convenient, oversimplified and diminishing.
