Learning How to Be Mean without Guilt

Good morning. Good afternoon, wherever you are. This is Chris and we are here today to talk about nice people coming last. And we are gonna talk about organized supervised deputies, which you may remember from doing the 30 day challenge, but you may have forgotten. Now it goes like this. The second law of nature basically says that everything involves at the border of support and challenge, which means, which means you’re going to get more and more and more and more and more work to do every single day. If you are complaining that your boss or your company or your job, or whatever it is, is delivering you more and more and more and more work every single day, your expectations are wrong.

The reality is anybody who gets less work to do is about to get the bullet. So the question we all have in life is how do we handle more and more and more and more responsibility and volumes of work? The answer is really simply, we get tough. We get tough on ourselves. We get tough on time and we get tough on our commitment. If your commitment is to be the best you wanna be in your job in your life, in your career, in the thing you do, you’re going to have to learn how to be tough, right? And that’s kind of like being able to accept yourself as being just a tiny wincing bit of a mean, I was gonna use sexist language then, but you gotta be a little bit mean. You gotta be a little bit tough.

You gotta learn how to harness you look up a song by Johnny Cash called the devil in me and you’ll understand exactly what we’re talking about here. Now, the way you get tough is you don’t allow people to mess with what is it? What’s the gift we all have that we don’t can never replace. It’s called time Dicky. Docky time. If you give away time Wawa, Wawa, or you’re not focused and you’re spending time doing something and you are wasting that time. Then when you get more to do the only thing you can throw out, it is time. And the people around you are gonna throw things at you going well, you use your time.

If you value your time less than my time, you use your time instead of me. So the person with the greatest self worth will have the greatest value on time. And that’s why you see people who are successful walking with a, some sort of a purposeful pace, working with a purposeful pace and not wasting time. Now they may not have spare time after not wasting any time. But the thing is they’ll probably get twice as much done as everybody else. There’s the rule organized, supervised deputies, organized, supervised deputies, organize supervised deputies.

What does it mean? Mean means get good at something, organize it, get good at something, organize it. Get good at something, organize it until such time. As you can get it into a system, then supervise it, watch somebody do it, watch somebody do it. Don’t hand it to them and say, you run off and do that and see what you come. You watch them do it. You supervise them. You instruct them.

And then you deputize, which means go and do it. And don’t bother me. Just bring back what the results we get obsessed in this big wide world. At the moment, with the, the process, we get a process obsession when really what we are measured by what determines the quality of our day. What determines the quality of our life is results, words, or words, thoughts, or thoughts, ideas, or ideas, suggestions, or suggestions, processes, process results are reality.

Now, at the end of the day, if you got the results and the, and the process, a little clumsy, good for you, you got along to be a little bit tough, which means don’t waste my time. Which means number two, I’m gonna work on the things that are really high priority that only I can do, because I have the greatest value of my time. And I’m gonna hand people who I pay less or hand people who don’t value their time as much more work to do. And they’ll say, well, I don’t mind cuz I don’t value my time. And that’s the whole idea of a hierarchy. The person at the bottom of the pyramid doesn’t value their time. If you go to an area in the world, anywhere in the world where people are social economically disadvantaged, you will find it usually quite dirty. Now here’s people with a lot of time on their hands,

Nothing to do living in, in, in squalor. Now why would that be? And that the answer, that question is to some degree, not everything, but to some degree it’s because they don’t value themselves and they don’t value their time. So you wanna know how to build yourself worth value. Your time, ask yourself every single day, what am I doing this 10 minutes? What am I doing? This 30 seconds? The do Lama teaches are something which is very potent, which I’ll finish off this presentation with. And he teaches us the value of not only gratitude, but what’s called micro gratitude. Now the clumsy silly person is running around going. I’ll be really thankful at the end of this week when this project is finished,

I’ll be really thankful at the end of this year, when I get a promotion, I’ll be really thankful when I get a bonus. And that’s about as clumsy as driving a T model Ford in a formula, one race track it’s ridiculous or driving a, a aluminum dinghy out here off Bondi beach in the surf ridiculous micro gratitude means you’re thankful that you’re listening to something educational right now. You’re thankful that you have an iPhone. You’re thankful that you’re sitting at a desk. You’re thankful that you can hear, see, smell, taste. You’re thankful that you’ve got two ears. You only need two earrings.

As the Dai Lama says, you’ve only got two ears to wear them on Thankfulness and being unthankful for what you’ve got, like wanting to change your gender or wanting to change your appetite or wanting to change your shape or it’s all good. It’s all good. People want to change things. But if it comes from ungrateful for what they’ve got, then that person is setting themselves up for very serious mental, emotional, and physical problems. And we’re gonna stop that. We’re gonna stop that and we’ve gotta be as a leader, we’ve got to be the role model, the real model of what we’re trying to, to get people to do, be the change you wanna see in the world. Be the person you want other people to be. And in a home, if you are not disciplined, if you are not focused on your career, if you are not doing something that builds you up and requires commitment and study, if you are fluffing around with your feet up on the desk, listening to your, your game playing, and then you ask the kids to study for their exam.

This is not going to work organized. Supervised deputies means you are gonna have more and more and more to do. And if you’re lazy and if you think what we there watching TV is the way to handle your quality of time. If you think sitting with your partner, watching TV at night is quality. Relationship time. You’re gonna learn something very harsh. One day quality of life is quality of time. The quality of your life is determined by the quality of the questions you ask.
