Meet Chris Walker: The Anti-Guru Guru

The Power of Nature in Your Hands

My Story - Why Innerwealth

“I never learnt anything about human nature from a book – I haven’t even read one of my own. People often ask me why I’m called “the anti guru, guru,” and the answer lies in the unconventional path I’ve taken through life and the principles of INNERWEALTH that have shaped my journey.

Growing up, I was always fascinated by nature. I spent my childhood exploring the wilderness, learning from the rhythms of the natural world rather than the pages of textbooks. The trees, rivers, and mountains became my teachers, revealing the profound truths of existence that no classroom ever could. This deep connection with nature has been the foundation of my approach to life and coaching.

As I embarked on my career, I realised that many of the so-called “gurus” were peddling recycled theories and abstract philosophies. Their teachings often felt disconnected from the raw, unfiltered reality of human experience. I found myself questioning the validity of their methods, and that’s when I decided to carve my path.

I studied engineering and built three large businesses in air pollution control. I sold them profitably and then went back to university to study behavioural science for an MBA. I did not attend my graduation. My statement to the university was that I knew more about human nature and business strategy before I started the course than when I completed it. After a short stint with a top-four consultancy, I started my own international management consulting firm. Innerwealth was born.

My work has taken me to the highest peaks of the Himalayas and the serene shores of Bondi Beach. In these diverse environments, I’ve guided countless individuals through their personal and professional transformations. What I’ve learned from these experiences is that real wisdom comes from living fully and authentically, not from memorising doctrines.

One of the pivotal moments in my journey was trekking through the rugged trails of Nepal. Leading groups up these challenging paths, I saw firsthand how people’s true characters emerged in the face of adversity. It wasn’t the theories they’d read or the mantras they’d memorised that saw them through; it was their raw, unfiltered selves, their instinctual drive to push forward and their ability to find stillness amid chaos.

I’ve also had the privilege of riding through the diverse terrains of cross-country and gravel biking. These adventures taught me resilience, adaptability, and the importance of being present in the moment. Each ride was a lesson in overcoming obstacles, both physical and mental, and in finding joy in the journey itself, rather than just the destination.

My passion for body surfing at Bondi Beach has also been a profound teacher. The ocean is a powerful force, indifferent to human will. It’s taught me humility, the importance of letting go, and the beauty of aligning oneself with the natural flow of life. These lessons are far more impactful than any written word could convey.

In my coaching, I draw from these life experiences to help others connect with their true selves and the natural world. INNERWEALTH is about finding harmony within and without, recognising that success on the outside starts with success on the inside. It’s about living by Nature’s Universal Laws, which are timeless and universal truths that govern all life.

I’ve seen the transformative power of this approach in the lives of those I’ve coached. By embracing the principles of reality, energy, attitude, and life (R.E.A.L.), they’ve been able to achieve extraordinary results, both personally and professionally. This isn’t about following a set of rigid rules or adhering to a prescribed path; it’s about being real, staying grounded, and evolving with the natural flow of life.

So, why am I called “the anti guru guru”? Because I don’t subscribe to the traditional notions of what a guru should be. I don’t claim to have all the answers, nor do I believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to personal development. Instead, I encourage people to look within, to connect with nature, and to learn from their own experiences. True wisdom comes from living fully, embracing the highs and lows, and staying true to oneself.

In a world full of noise and distractions, being the anti-guru guru means cutting through the clutter and helping others find their own path to inner wealth and fulfilment. It’s about being real, being present, and living a life that’s in harmony with the natural world. And that, in essence, is what INNERWEALTH is all about.”
