MORE PEOPLE DIE FROM SITTING COMFORTABLY IN A CHAIR THAN ANY OTHER CAUSE

We are all great believers in the integrity of a good day’s work. And so much of what we do daily is to improve that, so we earn a good living, feel good about ourselves and share a life with those we love. Our work fulfils one of the three keys to happiness: Someone to love. Something to do. Something to look forward to. Our health plays a major role in all three. It is hard to look forward to the future when we are experiencing pain that’s growing larger into the future. That pain can also be emotional, mental, physical, relationship, social, spiritual. Health is not the absence of pain, remember the balance? Health is hope. If you have pain that you think you can handle or fix then that pain is just a part of being alive. But if you get pain that you think is going to get worse with time and you have no remedy, then it turns to one thing that a human being cannot deal with, and that is suffering. The difference between pain and suffering is a million miles of separation. We can handle pain because we know it will end, but when we suffer, we cannot know the end and then we can sometimes wish it will end, by slow or fast suicide. There is one huge variable that can turn pain into suffering and suffering back into pain. Your BODYMIND.

POSTURE

Do you notice what happens to a person in sadness or grief? They hunch forward. The body in this case follows the mindset. If that mindset is prevalent, like PTSD or Depressive thoughts, the body forms the shape of the memory. If develops a posture that’s naturally hunched. Then, when the topic in the mind becomes healed by time or coaching, the body is stuck in the posture and it in turn, influences the mind. BodyMind is the science behind all yoga, acupuncture, tai chi, Qigong, and meditation. And all Eastern healing arts. Much of Chiropractic is based in Bodymind and there’s many more. But they make it practitioner taught and in doing so, complicate a magnificent awareness. Your Body is Nature’s Bible. A puffed out chest is pride and ego, a hunched chest is sadness and depressive. Standing with one foot forward, the left is associative the right foot is aggressive and assertive. Sore hips are to do with vision and neck and shoulder pain is from carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders (worry and responsibility for others). EMOTION TELLS FACE – FACE TELLS EMOTION

Michael Gladwell wrote an amazing book that shocked me and the world, BLINK. It describes the instantaneous identification of an opinion, (judgement) we make within seconds of meeting someone for the very first time and the unlikelihood of that ever changing. But Darwin knew more than Michael about this. Arguably the most important contribution basic science has made to our understanding of emotion concerns the universality of facial expressions of emotion. Darwin (1872) was the first to suggest that they were universal; his ideas about emotions were a centrepiece of his theory of evolution, suggesting that emotions and their expressions were biologically innate and evolutionarily adaptive, and that similarities in them could be seen phylogenetically. Early research testing Darwin’s ideas, however, was inconclusive and the dominant perspective in psychology was that facial expressions were culture-specific – that is, just as every culture had its own verbal language, it had its own language of facial expressions. Darwin’s claims were resurrected by Tomkins who suggested that emotion was the basis of human motivation and that the seat of emotion was in the face. Tomkins conducted the first study demonstrating that facial expressions were reliably and universally associated with certain emotional states But what they didn’t get, was that if you change your facial expression, you change your mind, you evolve in reverse. In other words instead of your face revealing your emotions, it actually can cause them. You can read and even do a course on this online here. BREATHE FOR LIFE

The obsession with ice and breathing techniques does little to enhance the quality of life for those who, for example, can’t sleep. What use is there learning to immerse yourself in a bucket of ice if you can’t breathe yourself to sleep. At night, your conscious mind gives way to your unconscious mind. Dreams that occur early in the night reveal unfinished business of the day. Dreams in the middle of the night reveal unfinished business from life history and dreams in the morning are predictive. People who wake in each of these sectors, for example, the early sector and can’t get to sleep are suffering from unfinished day’s work and those who wake at 2-3am are worried about the future. Whatever you like to believe about this, sleep is your healer. This is why I’ve recommended to every client to own and follow the Oura Ring. It’s really a measure of your head space and lifestyle. AS we’ve noted earlier, Champion Mindset is not a way of thinking, moreover, it’s a way of living, a lifestyle. The ability to overcome life’s challenges is the same ability to overcome a sporting challenge. Shy in life translates to shy in sport. It’s one long interconnected topic. Lack of self-confidence in allowing a relationship to dominate an individual is the same lack of self-confidence that can ruin a career. We divide life into seven areas but really, they are one long continuum. And what connects them, is your breathing. A deep breath is a deep life, a shallow breath is a shallow life. Long inhale and short exhale is elation and long exhale is the opposite, depression. Yes, mind changes breathing, but breathing changes mind. One cannot be a high performance individual, balanced in life, without some breathing awareness. We can even use breath management to put us to sleep.
