LAWS OF NATURE FOR A BETTER SELF

Many years ago, especially in Indigenous communities, people were in tune with nature. Nature’s harmony and the human happiness were considered one. What happened outside of us, happened within. But now, with time and technology, we have lost touch. Concrete has replaced trees, paint has replaced grass and billboards advise us rather than the deeper sentiments of our own intuition. As our culture evolves into the future, we see the signs of how our world and its people will suffer the separation from nature. As the pace speeds up, pharmaceuticals replace integrity, righteousness replaces kindness. We will suffer more and more from the separation from working with the land. We must try to reconnect, to understanding her (natures) rhythm and acknowledge the world of nature for her sustenance.

As we modernise, we seem to move away from harmony with nature, this breeds disrespect but worst of all, we become disconnected from her teachings. This work is about the opportunity to reconnect with the harmony of nature and in so doing reconnect with what is natural within us. The true power of the human spirit is harmonious, interconnected and very much alive.

Respect Begins with Self Awareness

A rhythm exists in the deepest levels of our being. The person who attunes themselves both externally and internally to what is natural, will possess an insight to the essence of the whole universe. This harmony, this rhythm, is a capacity that could change the world. Great composers, artists and inventor’s have always had the capacity to be authentic, to cut past the surface and dwell, even for moments at the depth of what is natural.

Every person in the world should train themselves to depend on themselves as much as possible. Societies are based on interdependence of people and this is healthy; but in this interdependence there is dire need to be self-aware, self-driven and self-conscious. Self awareness, is a trait that has not been cultivated in our society, but that is part of life. To be self aware is as important as to be generous. One makes you strong and the other makes you human. It is much easier to be generous if you are so selfish that it is no problem to be generous. Generosity from a minimal place is hypothetical.

It is therefore the decree of nature to cultivate for people self-awareness.

Make yourself a power in your day, if not in the world. Workout your own destiny. Be an architect of your own life on earth first. Learn self-reliance. Keep wholly within bounds of right dealings with all others, and then you will be able to show a generosity with the things self-fullness has accumulated. You cannot give what you haven’t got.

Many theorists believe that the ultimate end of civilization is a calm and beautiful peace. The reply to this belief is the assault the nature makes on peaceful people. Peace inactivity leads to weakness and death. Sickness and disease – ill health is caused by inactivity, not the excess of it. Today, we seek rest, television and easy food, and there are 8000 diseases, and as many remedies.

It Begins with Total Human Awareness.

Many urbanised and theory based human development practitioners in the West have made the mistake of compartmentalising the development of people with the aim of increasing personal wellbeing and happiness (productivity) and yet, the total human being, the heart, quality of life, relationship and other aspects of the human condition have been ignored. As we enter an era of hyper accelerated decision making the demands on individuals to bring their total capacity to work, including their heart, creativity, inspiration and non rational intellect, means we need a new understanding of “the Total Human Dynamic.” In nature we are people first and fragmentation doesn’t exist. Indigenous respect embraces nature as a teacher and a source of inspiration away from those Urban compartmentalised teachings.

Why We Use Nature and Traditional Methods

Recent advancement in our understanding of natural systems, coupled with a growing understanding of the subtle neurological and physiological functions associated with contact with nature, have allowed us to identify the elements of executive performance improvement. With this we have strategies to increase economic gains, improve productivity, and strengthen the social fabric of communities without leaving town. Although the cognitive benefits of biophilia are still well studied by the scientific community, the economic benefits of biophilic thinking are usually accrued anecdotally or through trial and error. With Innerwealth Technologies in place, this improvement is changing rapidly.

Neuroscientists have found that views of complex, dynamic natural scenes trigger many more interactions of the mu (opioid) receptors in the large rear portion of the visual cortex. Viewing nature is literally a pleasurable experience. Views with less visual richness, such as a blank wall or a tree-less street, are processed in the small forward portion of the visual cortex and trigger far fewer of the mu receptors, triggering less pleasurable mental reactions (Biederman & Vessel, 2006). In contrast, movement in a natural setting, such as waves, leaves in a breeze, fish swimming in an aquarium, or a flickering fire, capture and hold our attention.

Other physiological effects of exposure to nature are well documented. For example, the effects of walking through forest atmospheres versus urban areas have been documented by comparing the salivary cortisol, blood pressure, and heart rate of subjects. On average, salivary cortisol (a stress hormone) was 13.4-15.8% lower, pulse rate was reduced by 3.9-6.0%, and systolic blood pressure was lower in individuals who walked through the forest, compared with those who walked through urban areas. Most impressive, overall parasympathetic activity— which occurs when we feel relaxed— increased by 56.1%, whereas sympathetic activity—which occurs when we feel stressed—decreased by 19.4% in subjects who walked through the forest (Park, 2010). These studies support Kaplan and Kaplan’s Attention Restoration Theory (ART): that nature serves as a positive restorative environment for humans and is an effective platform for stress management, health promotion, psychotherapy, and disease deterrence.

Biophilic thought modelling – Traditional Practices – Indigenous Respect to Reduce Stress

Stress is a known cause of both mental health disorders and cardiovascular diseases. According to the World Health Organization, mental health disorders and cardiovascular diseases are expected to be the two prime contributing factors to illnesses worldwide by 2020 (WHO, 2008). (NOT INCLUDING THE COVID19 Virus)

Treatment for cardiovascular disorders accounted for $1 of every $6 spent on healthcare in America (cDc, 2011). If workers are faced with nowhere to relieve stress in the office, the premature onset of psychiatric, stress-induced, and anxiety-related illnesses can surface (cDc, 2011). Studies show that our ability to directly access nature can alleviate feelings of stress, thus bolstering the case for biophilia in the workplace (Grahn & Stigsdotter, 2010).

Heartbeat has been measured in natural and urban environments in relation to spatially selective attention. After test subjects viewed videos of the two aforementioned environments, their heart beat interval results suggested that videos depicting natural environments had an involuntary relaxing effect on autonomic functions, inducing positive cardiac deceleration as well as beneficial physiological arousal (laumann et al., 2003).

DEVELOP YOUR HEART

on Nov 22, 2021 05:37 pm

Great Work – Heart Work – Not Hard Work – With Just the Right Amount of Everything

Your heart is the core of your deepest humanity. When we have finished exploring intellect and attending ceremonies, when we are exhausted trying to change the unchangeable, then we come to rest in our heart. In this place your heart and my heart are one, we are interconnected, no need to compare, we are a part of something bigger, where our individuality is transient, the moment becomes important and we all relax in the knowledge that we have no idea of what could happen next. This is a beautiful reality, the core of confidence, love, beauty and a healthy life.

If one spent their whole life doing nothing other than opening their heart and developing the qualities of the heart, it is no exaggeration to say that this effort alone would bring them to the highest goal of human life. Because it is through the heart that one finds their truth and within the heart that one finds their True Nature. In this place –Self and God are one. You have to know this totally. To separate God and Self is to think God is great and I am small. Then you are locked in to your own smallness, and you cannot see the connection between what is natural, beautiful, and you. Native people knew this connection before religion came and separated them from nature. It is the human heart that can teach us to love without condition. It is here that strength and conviction emanate. Compassion and loving-kindness live in the heart and it is here that one feels peace. It is through the heart that we can find the way to treat our brothers and sisters, and ultimately, a way to be true to ourselves.

The heart represents the essential nature of a person and thus the development of the heart; the unfolding of the heart and the illumination of the heart are of the utmost importance on the path of to find your True Nature. This is the centre around which your life can revolve. But it is not the emotional centre. The heart is often mistaken as a nice fuzzy feeling in the centre of the chest. This is the emotional centre. We are talking about the human spirit. It is not a feeling but rather a knowing. Called the inner voice, it is not a voice at all. Called the spirit it is not a physical existence. It is a pure, unconditional knowing. No words can describe it.

To find your heart is to find your path, a path that doesn’t waver, it’s also to hold a certain centre, and be true to yourself and others. It all begins with gaining a true sense of your being. It’s a way to think and feel that reflects your true nature, it is natural, and, it creates a certain inner confidence, a strength, and builds a foundation from which your life may evolve. It can’t be separate practice from daily life because it is life itself. It doesn’t mean rushing around solving the world’s problems either, because those obstacles are countless and that rushing around is in itself part of the world’s problems. By listening to your own heart, to your own particular gifts, it enables you to focus on what you really love to do and to express yourself without tension or reaction. The deepest experience of life is awakened when each individual finally takes this opportunity. We become the mirror of the change we would love to see in the world; we must first learn to love ourselves and to find peace and harmony within.

When we explore the term heart in common language we find that ‘heart’ means the central or innermost part of something such as the ‘heart of the city’, it also means the essential or vital part of something such as “what is the heart of the matter?” A person with a ‘lot of heart’ is someone with determination. To ‘lose heart’ means to be discouraged so we see that the will of a person emanates from their heart. We refer to the heart when we talk about generosity or sincerity as well as consideration, understanding and helpfulness as when we say, “He has a big heart.” or “She is a dear heart.” When a person is cruel or mean or when someone shows no regard for others we say, “His heart is closed or small or cold or that he has no heart at all.”

In most of the spiritual traditions of the world the heart is considered the location where heaven and earth meet within the human being. This, of course, is not the physical heart but rather the ‘heart centre’ within the chest. This centre is where we experience love; it’s the Temple within.

As humans cannot grasp the idea of a heart outside the body, there is a part in this body of flesh dedicated to housing the idea of the heart. This area is most sensitive to feeling and has been called “broken” at times, although no physical break actually occurs.

The surface of our being is mind, while the depth of it is heart. The heart is clarity the mind is personality. It is through the heart that we feel ourselves or know ourselves. Once a person understands their True Nature, the character and the mystery of heart, they understand the language of the whole of creation because they know truth. So we have choices. Listen to this heart or listen to the mind and its stories or fear and uncertainty.

It takes a certain trust A trust that, when faced with what seems to be an insurmountable challenge, we will survive. It does not necessitate becoming religious. The spiritual life is not lived in temples, or on particular days of worship, nor is it only reverence to a statue or icon; it is lived every single moment of our lives. From what people see of us, and what we think, to our secret thoughts and our secret ideas.

People say put your heart into it; it means to become fully invested. It means to throw the full weight of your humanity behind something. There are no half hearted success stories. We must be vigilant. Our heart must remain invested. When the heart goes out of something we automatically sabotage it. So, if we can invest ourselves in maintaining the commitment of our heart we will automatically achieve many of our dreams in life.

Entrepreneurial Spirit

The life-skills and mindset of an on-fire entrepreneur who has a love with a family, a personal life, satisfaction and will live long to celebrate the fruits of their time. More than balance, it’s one hour a day – the power hour.

Stillness

“Oh, if we could live our lives over again, we would all celebrate and multiply those perfect moments when the world froze and love filled our heart” – the benefit of learning stillness is turning up, with love, in this moment, now.

Evolve to Love

All achievement means much, much, more with someone you love to share it with. The couple who evolves together, stays together and it’s better to learn and apply this before you need to. Experience is the most expensive teacher.

The Spirit of the Mountains

For centuries the great teachers of Self-Mastery have shared the miracle of the mountains. High above the mundane, sweeping vistas, fresh clean air, the spirit flies. We can no longer live in mountains but we can embrace their teachings. Vision, Inspiration and Purpose.

Healing

A hospital is the most expensive seminar on earth, so we have all become life coaches. We coach ourselves, friends, family. But sometimes we give the wrong advice. Healing self and others it is so vital that we “clean our own laundry” so our advice will stand the test of time.

3 STEPS TO SELF AWARENESS

on Nov 22, 2021 05:29 pm

Phase 1. Moving from Motivation to Inspiration – Introduction to Coaching Back on Track Challenge

The mind is a muscle. There are seven important mind muscles. The graphic below illustrates it perfectly. Over time we may become quite muscle bound in some areas of the mind because we’ve been under stress or pressure.

Innerwealth Chris Walker Consciousness Image

We get used to using certain parts of our brain, but we get rewarded in life by being able to access the highest areas. The Inspired areas of the mind. So, the beginning of my coaching is about muscle strengthening of the higher, genius and inspired muscles of the mind. These are the areas we are most healthy in, most inspired by, at peace with and get paid the most for using. To access these areas certain challenges must be set. We need to create new habits. Like “Act Not React” and moving from motivation as a driving force (highly emotionally triggered) to inspiration (a sense of purpose greater than self). This introductory coaching takes around 30-90 days depending on circumstances.

Phase 2. Total Human Awareness

The sacrificial lamb is an old tale and so many high executive talents still measure their year, week or day by the quality of their sacrifices. “I gave it everything” might be a common regret. But this is old school. Quality of result is a far better measure of a day or year and this does not require sacrifices. It requires a judicial awareness of the value of “turning Up” 110% in all aspects of life.

This ability to transition from meeting to meeting without emotional carryover, to take off the “pig poo boots” on the way home from work and to understand the radical differences between what will make a great career mindset and it’s inverse opposite that will make a home and personal life flourish is a huge transition and skill. My coaching emphasises the ability to shift mindset and therefore not sabotage one aspect of life for another.

Phase 3. VIP (vision, inspiration and purpose)

Prevention is better than cure. Weekly coaching is preventative medicine for the executive who knows that a few days in a rotten mood, impacted by an event, worried about a meeting, frustrated over something at home, is going to cost dearly. The ripples of a bad day can last a lifetime. Rather than spread a bad state of mind and then have to go out and repair it, we commit to stay on track by constant dialogue between myself and client to sustain a state of personal inspiration.

You know you can’t give what you haven’t got so this is where changing the world begins. Change One, Change All. Changing your thinking, the way you see things is the most beautiful thing you can do for the world, changing others is extreme narcissism and the world is not getting better from that. Staying inspired is the mission of my ongoing coaching. It means dealing rapidly with disruption that might cause a loss of confidence, evolving your vision and staying on purpose in all areas of life. The rewards are more moments of love, inspiration, genius and calm.

Conclusion

So much influences the state of mind of an executive: worries about sales, family, children, partner, parents, health, teams, strategies, friends, weight, longevity and more… It makes for a potpourri of contradictions and sometimes conflicts. The more we grow, the more complex these interactions get, until we begin to feel compromised by our choices. We devolve into survival, and often reach for unwise ideals to cope. But there is a way through this. A way that requires no compromise at the individual level and, a way that supports high results at work and at home. A way that respects process too, so that people we love and care about don’t get burnt along the way.

Inspired individuals are beacons in any business. They do not get overwhelmed nor compromise the results they promise. Simply they are able to play to their “super power” and draw others to their arena. Which in turn, inspires others. My coaching is changing the world, one heart at a time. It begins with inspiring the individual and I’m committed to that.
